Self-Guided Holidays and Small Group Adventures Europe:  Portugal

The lush landscape of the north is rich agricultural and viticultural country. The central and southern regions are less green, yet they support olive groves, vineyards, and citrus trees.  In spring they are a sight to behold when the almond blossoms are in full bloom.

The northern and central countryside of Portugal is characterised by rivers, valleys, forests and mountains, with the highest range is the Serra da Estrela, peaking at Torre (1993m). The south is less populated and, apart from the rocky backdrop of the Algarve, much flatter and drier.

Utracks Europe offers a self-guided walking holiday of Portugal's Port wine region.
